from the bus
I saw three
probably homeless people
sitting at a bus stop
for some reason
I had to keep
looking
they looked calm
and I could practically smell
the piss
and for a moment
it made me feel soft
and sad
for how desperate we all are
just to be loved
every word and action
is fueled by longing
and the fear
of being unwanted and alone
